Standard GP Consultation

Find out about the Standard GP Consultation

At Private GP Lincs, our standard GP consultation is designed for one straightforward health concern, a GP-arranged follow-up, or an acute issue that can be safely assessed within a shorter appointment.

This appointment includes 15 minutes of patient-facing time with the GP, with a further 5 minutes allocated for clinical administration. This allows the clinician to complete any necessary notes, documentation, prescriptions, referrals, or follow-up actions after your consultation.

For more complex concerns, multiple issues, first appointments, or problems that may require a more detailed review, we recommend booking an Extended/Initial Consultation instead.

What to Expect

From the moment you book, our team will ensure your visit runs smoothly. You will be greeted by our receptionist, who will confirm your details and any relevant information for your appointment.

During your consultation, the GP will focus on your main concern, complete an appropriate assessment, and discuss the next steps. This may include advice, reassurance, treatment, a private prescription, further investigations, or onward referral where clinically appropriate.

What is a Standard GP Consultation suitable for?

A standard GP consultation is best suited to one clear and focused concern, such as:

A GP-arranged follow-up appointment

A new acute concern, such as a minor infection, pain, rash, or short-term symptom

Medication review for a straightforward issue

Discussion of recent test results

A single referral request where the background is already clear

Simple advice, reassurance, or treatment planning

This appointment type works best where the concern can be assessed safely and effectively within the available clinical time.

When should I book a longer appointment?

Please book an Extended/Initial Consultation if your appointment is for:

Your first appointment with Private GP Lincs

Multiple concerns you would like to discuss

A complex or ongoing medical history

Symptoms affecting several areas of health

Mental health concerns requiring a fuller discussion

Menopause, hormone, weight management, or long-term condition reviews

Requests likely to require a detailed letter, report, form, or referral

Any issue where you feel 15 minutes with the GP may not be enough

If you book a standard consultation and the GP feels more time is needed, they may recommend arranging a longer follow-up appointment.
